Octodad is a short, charming game. You play the role of a father of an enthusiastic young suburban family. Throughout the game, your family demonstrates their fondness of you as you complete simple tasks like cleaning the kitchen and playing with your son.

What's so interesting about that? You're secretly an octopus. And you don't want anyone to find out. You have a good thing going for you because everyone associates you with fatherly things. They wouldn't even think to question your species. But at any time, you could blow your cover if you spend to much time holding things that aren't fatherly, like toys or makeup.

Levels and objectives are simple, but navigating isn't. You control each of your limbs separately. It might be easy enough if you were in the water, or on the ground with all 8 tentacles. But you're in a house and you have to act your part, and keep roughly in the shape of a human, because you have to wear a suit, so you don't look like an octopus.

The atmosphere is awesome. The level color choices really make the orange of the octopus's skin stand out, making things easy to distinguish from one another. They made their own music and I have to say it's pretty good. Their "eight wobbly arms" ditty is going through my head as I type. And the character design and story make you feel like you're really part of the family.

The down side? The game is short, like half an hour short. Loading times are really long for what little content there is. And besides for the character you play, there's very little 3d animation going on.

All in all, I had a blast playing. It's a physics based game, so if you're not used to that, you may get a little frustrated (if you ever stop laughing at how ridiculous your character's movements are). There's almost no time commitment and the family is so darn endearing I think anyone could enjoy this game. If you have the time, I highly suggest playing Octodad.
